McDonald moves to Royal Challengers Bangalore


According to a Daredevils official, the transfer fee for McDonald was US$100,000. McDonald played only one game for the Daredevils in 2011. In his three seasons with the team, he played just six games, scoring 76 runs and taking five wickets.


"All-rounders are a priceless asset and we are pleased to add Andrew to our squad," Sidhartha Mallya, the director of Royal Challengers Sports Pvt Ltd, said. "He has excelled with bat and ball in different formats. We have no doubt that he will make a big difference to our prospects in the coming IPL season."

Yuvraj Singh ruled out of IPL



Yuvraj Singh, the India batsman, could be ruled out of cricket for as many as six months due to the ongoing treatment of his non-malignant lung tumour. This means he will at least miss the Asia Cup and the IPL, where he captained the Pune Warriors last year.


The last time Yuvraj played competitive cricket was the Tests against West Indies last November, and he was originally hoping to return as early as next month's ODI tri-series in Australia.

Anderson eager for IPL chance

Nine teams likely for IPL 2012


The IPL is likely to comprise nine teams in 2012 and players from the terminated Kochi Tuskers Kerala franchise could be made available to the other franchises through a player auction early next year, ESPNcricinfo has learnt. The 2012 IPL is also expected to return to the home-and-away format of the first three seasons.

Royal Challengers Bangalore retain Chris Gayle


Chris Gayle has been retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore for the next two IPL seasons. The Royal Challengers had first rights to Gayle's services after he represented them as a replacement for Dirk Nannes in the previous year. Though the amount he has been signed for is yet undisclosed, it is to be revealed to the IPL authorities and will be deducted from the Royal Challengers' auction purse.

David Miller retained by Kings XI Punjab


David Miller, the South Africa middle-order batsman, has been retained by Kings XI Punjab ahead of the fifth season of the IPL, and given a two-year contract. Miller had joined Kings XI as a replacement for Dimitri Mascarenhas last season but did not play a game. He has been on the fringes of the South Africa ODI and Twenty20 side, and scored a half-century against Australia in the October 2011 series.

IPL 2012 to start, end in Chennai


The fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), comprising nine teams and 76 matches, will begin and end in Chennai, with the opening match on April 4 and the final on May 27. The teams will play each other at home and away during a league phase consisting of 72 games at 12, possibly 13, venues, beginning with the defending champions Chennai Super Kings playing Champions League T20 winners Mumbai Indians.

Kevin Pietersen transfers to Delhi Daredevils


England batsman Kevin Pietersen has transferred to Delhi Daredevils from Deccan Chargers for the 2012 season of the IPL, the IPL has confirmed. Pietersen is the third player to switch teams during the transfer window, after Dinesh Karthik and R Sathish.

Dinesh Karthik to transfer to Mumbai Indians


Dinesh Karthik, the Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper, will move from Kings XI Punjab to the Mumbai Indians in the first notable transfer ahead of the IPL's fifth season. Karthik was bagged by the Mumbai Indians for an undisclosed sum. A BCCI insider said it was easily the highest sum paid to buy a player from another team in the history of the IPL. In exchange for Karthik, allrounder R Sathish will go to Kings XI.

Ojha moves to Mumbai Indians



Pragyan Ojha, the India left-arm spinner, has transferred from Deccan Chargers to Mumbai Indians for an undisclosed fee, ahead of the fifth season of the IPL . Ojha had been with the Chargers since the first season of the IPL, and took 62 wickets in 56 matches at an average of 22.19 and an economy-rate of 7.08. He was the leading wicket-taker in the 2010 edition of the IPL, with 21 wickets.
